About Andre M. Horne | Maryland Licensed General Contractor
Andre M. Horne is the Founder and General Contractor of Unique Home & Landscaping Designs, a Maryland licensed, bonded, and insured construction company serving Central and Southern Maryland (MHIC #163972). He works with homeowners, families planning for changing needs, real estate investors, property managers, medical practices, and small businesses.
With more than 20 years of hands-on construction experience and 250+ completed projects, Andre has spent much of his life learning how homes work, and, more importantly, how they can work better for the people living in them. His introduction to the trades began at age 11, learning alongside his father, and grew into a career built around craftsmanship, problem-solving, and helping homeowners turn challenging spaces into places that truly support their lives.

Today, Andre's work spans residential renovations, accessible and multigenerational living, basement transformations, investor property renovations, commercial and tenant improvements, property-management work, capital improvements, outdoor living, and landscaping.
He brings unusual range to that work. Certified in general carpentry, landscaping, and plumbing, Andre leads a crew of six to ten skilled tradespeople and coordinates the work needed across the interior, exterior, and grounds. That means clients can work through one contractor, one coordinated scope, and one point of contact instead of managing disconnected trades. Andre personally oversees the project from the first scope conversation through the final walkthrough. Scope, pricing, sequencing, expectations, and applicable project-specific warranty terms are documented for the work being proposed.

His approach to accessible living is personal. When a loved one faced medical challenges, Andre wasn't just a contractor. He was family. He had to look at a home the way she now had to live in it: every threshold, every stair, every narrow doorway, every dim hallway. Building a space where she could live safely and independently changed the way he sees every home he walks into.
That experience gave him a sensitivity most contractors never develop. Wider pathways, safer bathrooms, accessible showers, better lighting, convenient laundry, and easier movement through a home aren't simply construction details. They are the difference between someone merely staying in a home and truly living in it, independent and connected to the people they love.
It also shaped his values, personal and professional alike: listen first, because every family's needs are different. Build for dignity, not just code. Treat every project as if his own loved one will live in it, because once, one did.
